While the ARC-656 three-phase stud welding power supply has numerous advantages, including a compact size that makes it more portable and a minutely adjustable front panel digital display, some complications still exist with the factory model. Never content to merely make do, Production Fastening Systems collaborated with engineers and on-site welders to produce a modified version that resolved the problems in question.
Factory:
The factory model ARC-656 is equipped with a single handle, which makes relocating the power supply cumbersome.
PFS Modified Advantage:
The ARC-656M, PFS’s refined model, provides dual handles that make moving the equipment more manageable for two people or even a single welder.
Factory:
A continuous-duty fan means that the internal workings of the factory model ARC-656 are vulnerable to copious quantities of dirt and debris on job sites. Furthermore, a continuous-duty fan compromises energy efficiency.
PFS Modified Advantage:
The ARC-656M innovatively relies on an on-demand cooling fan. Activated only when the equipment needs to be cooled, the highly efficient modification also reduces the amount of debris infiltrating the unit.
Factory:
The factory model power supply is equipped with a 25 Ft. extension weld and control cable, so the equipment must be moved frequently to reach weld studs that cover a larger area.
PFS Modified Advantage:
PFS’s model is furnished with a 50 Ft. extension weld and control cable, allowing welders to cover a greater distance without the continuous interruption of moving the unit.
Additional features:
-
- The modified ARC-656M comes with a hard-wired power cable secured by Kellum grips. The cable can be quickly disconnected and moved via male and female twist-lock power connectors.
- The ARC-656M improves upon the factory model’s arc gun with a dampener that ensures a smooth weld fillet and reduced splatter and a bi-pod foot that ensures perpendicularity for each stud
